Welcome to Pre-K
Pre-K Handbook
Philosophy
Early Childhood Education should be a journey, not a race. On this journey children travel at a different pace according to their individual development, background of experience, and needs. Education assists the developing of the total child spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually. Therefore, early childhood educational experiences should provide opportunity for unifying all aspects of children’s lives.
Guidelines
The Early Childhood years are a gift of time which enables the young children to experience the joy of being created and uniquely gifted by a loving Father. The Early Childhood Program in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia provides the following:
Enrollment
Children must be four years old by September 1st. Tuition and fees must be paid through the FACTS program. The fees are for activities, parties, supplies, rest mat and lunch monitors.
Arrival and Dismissal
Children may arrive as early as 8:10 am and as late as 8:25 am. Children will be marked late if they arrive after 8:30 am. Children may not enter the classroom before 8:10 am. Adults will park in the lane closest to the garage and escort the children to the Pre-K classroom door. Please keep goodbyes short and sweet. This makes for a better transition into school.
Children will be dismissed at 2:45 pm. The children will be escorted by the teacher to the library doors where they can meet their pick up person in the parking lot. Each child will be dismissed individually. Pick-up people are required to have a pick up coupon until they are recognizable.
CARES will begin at dismissal.
Attendance
When a child misses a school day, they are required to have an absent note on the day they return to school. The forms are provided for you. Children should stay home from school until they are fever free for 24 hours. Please call the school by 8:15 and leave a message if your child will be absent. 215-639-3456.
Dress Code
Pre-kindergarten dress code is comfortable casual clothes. Sneakers are the best for indoor and outdoor play. (No flip flops). Please be sure clothes are bathroom friendly. All children are required to have a change of clothes stored at school for an emergency. The bag should include shirt, pants, shorts, socks and underwear. The bag will be sent home in January for a size update. Each child needs a paint shirt or smock for art. An old t-shirt from mom or dad works best!
Student Progress
Children will be evaluated with a Progress Report in October, February and June. You may contact the teacher at any time of the year to discuss your child’s progress.
